In the System Tools section there is no Backup entry
though many of the references to 'Backup' indicate that
it should be there.

How can I get a Windows backup facilty into the Tools
section or advise the use of other software to achieve
the objective of full/differential backup onto removable
media?

Thanks in advance

Hi

Are you running XP Home - if so:

The Backup Utility isn't installed by default with XP Home. Depending on
what kind of XP CD you have, it may be in the valueadd\msft\ntbackup folder.

Obviously William's in a hurry today as he's not his usual accurate self.
The Windows XP back-up utility *CANNOT* be used to back up to removable
media. You will need a third party back-up tool. I use Power Quest's Drive
Image 7.

You, along with Carey, are falling into creating a lower group of MVPs that
are giving cut-n-paste help (not anything from your own knowledge base), as
well as being totally inaccurate and unhelpful.

The NTBackup Tool can backup to tape or floppy. Both are removable media. It
is not designed to backup to DVD/CD but a work-a-round can be give some
limited ability to doing so however the Backup Tool will not span disks or
split large files http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/saving_files_to_cd.htm

Using XP's Backup program I back up regularly to a CD-RW and a DVD-/+ RW
removable media
It does require you to have Packet writing software but it works
