Whenever I boot up, Internet Explorer opens and Windows
update screens appear. When I cancel them, either they
have loaded twice or instantly reappear. I have tried
loading updates, but I get an "error loading the screen"
message. I have opened My Computer, clicked on Properties,
and unchecked the box for automatic updates. But when I
reboot, the IE screen with its Windows updates is back and
the Properties box is rechecked. Nothing seems to rid me
of this frustrating nuisance. Any suggestions?

Hi!
A strange one no doubt.
What is the home page of your internet explorer?
Start>Run>msconfig>Services>uncheck Automatic
Updates>Apply>Reboot.

Sounds like a corrupt update manager application. You may need to clean the
drive and defragment. Or simply do a repair install.
