xp autoinstalling my drivers

hi is there anyway of stopping windows xp autoinstalling a driver for me nic as it keeps giving it the wrong one ive try updating it with floppy disk i got with the nic and xp comes up with that is not better than the driver it installed so ime stuck.Ive tryed deleting the driver but its just keeps popping back so that doesnt work ime really getting me hair off with it now as i need to make a network but it isnt working properly because of the wrong driver so if anyone can help please let me know...... dave
 
Hi cleverdave2k,

Why don't you try removing the nic from the machine and then
uninstalling the drivers from Device manager?

Turn off the machine, reinstall the nic and when the new hardware
wizard asks for the drivers, point it to the floppy.
