I was recently surfing the web and now I seem to have a new antivirus
software working on my machine. The name is XP Antivirus ver. 2.4. It
always wants to scan my machiine but won't correct any bad files unless I
purchase it first. I tried to unistall it but when I restarted my machine it
is back again. My normal AVG antivirus software is not finding any bad files
but this new one does. How do I get rid of it?

Two part reply..

Perform Part 1 then perform Part 2.

It is suggested that you execute each tool in Normal Mode then in Safe Mode.

Part 1
-----------

Use noahdfear's SmitFraud, SpyAxe, SpyFalcon, et. al., removal tool -- SmitRem.exe

Asked & answered in another group. In the future, please don't multipost -
if you need to post to multiple groups, it's best to crosspost instead, by
posting a single message to a handful of relevant groups (separate the NG
names with commas) so that everyone can follow the thread. Multiposting
wastes everyone's time, including yours, and may lead to your actually
getting *less* help rather than more.

2. Disable Notepad's word wrap:
In Notepad.exe; Format --> uncheck; "Word wrap"

3. Download/run Deckard's System Scanner:
http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/Deckard/dss.exe

4. Save the scan results (Main.txt and Extra.txt)

5. And then post the contents of Main.txt and Extra.txt in your post in one of the below
expert forums...

Useful tips for Users/Readers of this blog:

To prevent yourself from installing or using fake anti-virus which may
probably install malware or other unwanted software, always buy or download
the original product from its original website(e.g. You want to buy an
antivirus. Always buy from the original website). If you do not know the
original website, search it up on a search engine such as Yahoo!, Google,
Dogpile, Ask.com.
