XP and windows 2000 via linksys

Had: Desktop running 2000 and laptop running Win98se
using linksys as a wireless network, working perfectly.
Now: Same desktop and new Toshiba Satellite laptop running
XP Home edition. It appears that I can get the Linksys to
work on the laptop but it doesn't "see" the desktop and
vice versa. One of the "suggestions" in HELP is to make a
disk on the laptop and install it on the desktop. I
tried, but the laptop doesn't have a 3 1/2 floppy on which
to write this new patch. I have a CD-RW, but the program
does not recognize this as a "removable media" device.

Help!

The 2000 and Win98se computers are already set up for networking.
Despite what XP tells you, there's no reason to run its network setup
disk on those computers. In fact, that disk won't run at all on 2000.
