XP and win2k sharing files without Netbeui???

I just got an XP home machine and found that XP doesn't support
Netbeui. Two questions:

1. How does XP's "network places" work if it doesn't support
Netbeui?

2. How do I share files on XP with win2k machines if I don't
install Netbeui and do not run ftp server?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

install TCP/IP.

that stuff works of from netbios not netbeui. netbios
works over the tcp/ip protocol as well as the netbeui
protocol. netbeui is a very short sighted not scalable,
not routable protocol. i usually avoid it like the plague.
set your machines up with tcp/ip and you should be all set.
