xp and system information

This must be a simple problem but I can not solve it. My
OS is winxp sp1. I cannot run "system information". The
error message is - "can not connect to the computer,
check to see if winmgmt is running". I have several files
on the computer named winmgmt but none with an exe
extension. I removed the xp system accessories and then
re-installed them, but I still get the same error message
and system information will still not run. Can anyone
give me an idea of what else to do?? Thanks - Howard

Winmgmt is a service. Check if it is enabled and running.
If you don't understand what this means, call a tech support specialist
(because tampering with services, registry etc. may wreck your machine
completely).

go - view detailed system information(msinfo32)/
