XP and outlook express

I am trying to use freeserve address with different names
in front of @. I think I have put all the right info into
each of our (3 family members) outlook express via
tools... accounts... mail...add..
The message I sent from hotmail to these new address all
came on to my outlook express inbox instead of going to
the individuals. have I just missed out something
simple? Be grateful for any help.. Thanks
 
Do these individuals have freeserve addresses or are you just trying their
names in front of @freeserve? They have to actually have such an account.
Is this an address they gave you>
 
What you have to do, is in each individual's identity in OE, in the setting
for mail user, type in "fred+username.fsworld.co.uk" (without the quotes)
assuming the user is called Fred.
Then Fred will ONLY download mail that is sent to
(e-mail address removed)

If you haven't already set these e-mail addresses up in your own account at
freeserve or in some account at freeserve, you are simply sending an e-mail
that's going to get bounced which is exactly what happened.

When you set up your account, you set up your current e-mail address. If
they gave you the option for additional address, they must have a procedure
whereby you add these additional addresses. It's more than just placing
someone else's name in front of the "@" sign, there's a setup procedure and
you must do that at freeserve on your account or whatever account you are
attempting to establish before you can send e-mail to that address.

they are aliases of the username so there's no "procedure" for setting up
additional emails other than what the User does.
 
I hadn't considered that but doesn't this still require some sort of setup
in his account. I have the same feature at Earthlink but I still have to
place the additional addresses in my account information.

The server recognizes his e-mail address but if he simply places an alias in
front of the @ sign isn't that the same as anyone simply doing that or does
the server pull header information that indicates the user in some fashion?
 
No it doesn't actually. the ISP gives him a username (or mailbox if you
prefer) of "username.freeserve.co.uk" and the user just adds "Fred@" in
front.
so fred's email is (e-mail address removed). Jim's email is
(e-mail address removed). The only easy way of splitting these into
separate identities in OE is to set the pop username in Account properties
as "fred+usename.freeserve.co.uk" and "jim+username.freeserve.co.uk"
(without the quotes, obviously). The only downside to this is that email
addressed to the "generic" email address, i.e. "anyone except the designated
aliases"@username.freeserve.co.uk will not be downloaded. But as this is
normally spam, then if something like mailwasher is used once a month to
clear the mailbox at the ISP, then it's OK.
 
Ah, I see and I've completely misread the OP as I took it to mean he sends
the e-mail and the messages are bouncing as opposed to going to the identity
he created.

Thanks for the link - I took my nickname because I WAS a Rifleman - as in
Royal Green Jacket and Light Infantry!
