Hi all,

I just upgrade my system to XP pro and I have a quick
question.
I used to have ME and I kept a back up of the outlook
folder from the apps data folder so I got to keep all
the .dbx files with my saved emails etc.
I cant locate this directory in XP though. does anyone
know where I would copy my outlook .dbx file to so that
outlook recognises them and restores my back?

thanks for any help. more info needed just ask

C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\Local Settings, expand "Local
Settings, expand Application Data, Expand Microsoft, select Outlook Express
and that's the location.

Outlook or Outlook Express? Any way, why didn't you just "export" your
outlook to a .pst format and then import? I've not used Outlook express is
years, but Outlook uses a .pst file usually located in "C:\Documents and
Settings\{user}\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook".

DBX files are only created in Outlook Express.

In that case, it might also be in a folder simular to "C:\Documents and
Settings\{YOUR USER NAME}\Local Settings\Application
Data\Identities\{2C7A8CD0-78FA-427F-BF86-AE333A20DC52}\Microsoft\Outlook
Express", which is different to what you had posted earlier. At least, this
is where my Win XP Pro places the files for me.
