Hi,
I'm running XP pro. I have ZoneAlarm and NAV. Recently I can be in the
middle of something or, actually, doing nothing as in the case with OE, and
my system will just shut itself down and restart again.
Anyone know what's going on here?
Cheers

Hi

If you don't see any error messages, right click on My Computer, select
Properties and then the Advanced tab. Click on Settings under Startup and
Recovery and disable 'Automatically restart'. Next time your PC reboots,
you should see a Blue Screen. Could you please post the Stop Code from the
BSOD?

Also, please have a look in the Event Viewer to see if any entries there may
refer to the problem.

Hi Will
Thanks so much for the quick response and forgive me, I am new and I am
woman LOL. What is BSOD before I go any further?
Thanks again

Hi

BSOD = Blue Screen Of Death - which you should see next time the PC tries to
shutdown. On that screen is a Stop Code in the format 0x00000000 just
before some brackets - although the numbers will be different. Could you
please post that - it may give clue as to the problem you are having.

Hi again
Ok, fortunatley, my system just this minute ago shut down and restarted
again! I noticed this time the when I received a ZoneAlarm alert saying;
"LiveUpdate Engine COM Module is trying to access the internet....blah blah
blah"
I gave it permission and it closed me down.
Now this isn't the case all the time but this, now I think about it, is the
second time.
I did see a blue screen but it flashed for a millisecond and I could not
read anything on there, sorry.
Does this help?
I will also try what you suggested previously also.
Thanks again!

Hi

LiveUpdate is part of NAV. Have you tried the Symantec support site for
some help?

Not yet but I will.
I think just about everything that can go wrong, is going wrong now. I
finally got the BSOD about 10 mins ago but it flashed too quick for me to get
any info! I finally thought "that was it", I wasn't gonna start up again but
here I am.
I need also to go and try what you originally said to do and I'll post back
again.
I really appreciate someone trying to help
Thanks again

Hi again!
Sorry for the delay in coming back but my pc kept shutting down too
frequently and many things went wrong so a friend of ours, took it away,
installed a new HD and basically took off the crap and sorted everything.
It's working fine now but I'm down to using plain Outlook and not OE. It's ok
but after everything was imported etc, I just don't seem to be receiving as
many emails as I know I should. I've checked settings/account options etc and
tested by sending myself several mails from say, a hotmail account, and it
seems to take forever to receive, if I get it at all. I'm set to receive/send
every 2 minutes.
Any suggestions for this too?
Thanks again for all your help
