XP and LPT1 port problem

I upgraded to XP from Me and can not print unless I
uninstall and reinstall the LPT1 port each time I turn on
the computer. The printer driver (DeskJet 952C) is
current. I can live with this but shouldn't have to . . .

You may have inherited indigestable drivers, or more likely
"para-drivers", i.e. device-specific bundleware that isn't part of the
drivers per se, thus less likely auto-suppressed. Thinking startup
axis underfootware, CLSID integration etc.

I'd try deleting all printers and parallel ports from Safe Mode, then
let XP re-detect and prompt for drivers on the next normal boot.

Nope. May be par for the course for an over-old upgrade, tho.
