I have recently installed WinXP Pro w/ SP 1.

I have the following HD/CD config:

Abit KT7 IDE device 0, item 0: LG DVD
Abit KT7 IDE device 0, item 1: None
Abit KT7 IDE device 1, item 0: LG CD/RW
Abit KT7 IDE device 1, item 1: Maxtor U33, 10 GB HD

Promise Ultra 100, IDE device 0, item 0: Maxtor U100, 60
GB HD
Promise Ultra 100, IDE device 0, item 1: None
Promise Ultra 100, IDE device 1, item 0: Maxtor U66, 20 GB
HD
Promise Ultra 100, IDE device 1, item 1: None

Windows XP, during install recognized all the drives.

After install and after logging in for the first time, XP
does not find my devices on Abit KT7 IDE device 1 (both
the CD/RW and the HD).

But if I force a scan for new hardware, XP will find it
and initialize the devices fine. I am then able to use
the devices without hesitation. Unfortunately, XP will
not remember this. This process has to be done every time
I log in.

Can anyone give me some assistance? If you reply, please
send a copy to my email address if at all possible.

Thanks!

Did you install the motherboard drivers as well for all the
motherboard connectors etc! They usually come on a CD with
the system. You can download latest ones as well!
