Indiana just started observing Daylight Savings Time AGAIN! In pervious
versions of Windows, we had a box we could check if we were affected by DST.
I'm not seeing that function in XP Pro SP2. Any ideas?
Thanks

If you tell me the start and end date (ie 1st sunday of when to 1st of when - we do last sunday where I live so ...) I'll make you a patch.

Hello, If you have the" time" in the "System Tray" right click on it and a
dialog box should appear with "Adjust time & day" left click this and a
dialog box with three tabs showing, "Date & Time", "Time Zone" and "Internet
Time". The "Time Zone" tab should be opened and a box checked for "Daylight
Saving Time". Internet Time can be set for Auto Time update, this will call
out every day and update the time.
That is what is on my OS, Windows XP Home SP2.
take care.

Hello, First six words "Indiana just started observing Daylight Savings ".

It won't need to be every year, David.

The US and parts of Canada are changing next year to the start of DST the
second Sunday in March and coming off the first Sunday in November.

For it to work for every year I need to know 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or last
sunday of (april and october?). As the 29th is the 5th sunday I'll assume
last sunday. I'll assume it starts at 2am and finishes at 3am (MS examples
all use an end time of 2pm - is this some americian thing?). Can you tell me
what is your current timezone called. Is it Indianna (East) GMT -5.

Just change the time zone setting from Indiana East to Eastern time zone.

Did you read the first 6 words.

there is no box for DST..Thats the whole prob. I remember seeing it
there before, it's just not there now

Did you read anything after those first six words?

The OP stated that in previous versions of windows they had the option to
click a selection box so that their clock would auto adjust for daylight
savings time.

They then stated they could not find that function in XP.

Beamish pointed to the relevant steps to find this function.

So my question to you is, why are you being needlessly rude an belligerent
to someone else when it is your reading skills that are lacking, not theirs.

So how does your answer relate to that. It doesn't at all.

Hello,

Now that Indiana has decided to come back to the DST fold you simple need to
change your time zone from Indiana eastern to regular old eastern.

You can do this using the date and time icon found in your control panel. I
always use classic view so I can't say off the top of my head what admin
heading it would be under.
It can also be accessed by right clicking the time in you system tray and
choosing "adjust date and time".
However you find it, the time zone tab is your target.

Like I said, now that Indiana is on the same time as evreyone else :) all
you need to do is switch to regular old eastern and that box you didn't see
before will be there.

I appreciate your initiative, but there is no need to reinvent the wheel
here. Read my top level reply to the OP and you will see why a patch is
really not needed.

Because as he didn't read the question the steps aren't possible to follow. There will be no box to check in a non DST time zone.

Hello, Thank You "Manny Borges" and "LVTravel".
Here is another tidbit concerning Indiana.
From a post by Wesley Vogel.

There are two time zones for Indiana "central and eastern".
Some states have all the fun.
