Been having this problem on 3 XP Pro machines I have for
over 2 months now and still cant fix. They all have
Autocad 2004 installed locally and when I browse to a
network path to open various ACAD files the browser
shows 'Not Responding' and takes ages to view the files
in the folder. Have set the folder view to list instead
of thumbnails. The only way to succesfully view the files
is to remove the file association for DWG files to Acad
application.
Any help appreciated, getting desperate

We are having a similar problem with ADT 3.3. Do you
have a windows 2000 server? Apparently there is slow down
when trying to open files from a 2000 Domain Controller
on an XP workstation. I have been trying to optimise the
network setting for the Network cards and has speeded it
up slightly but still not enough. If you find any
solution please let me know I have sent e-mail to
Autodesk and our reseller I will let you know thier
comebacks.

The autocad files are on a netware 6 server, however the
user licenses are on a windows 2000 Domain controller. In
otherwords the user kicks of autocad which obtains a
license from the 2000 server, then they try to open files
from the netware server from a drive mapping. Cant see
that causing a problem however the netware server sits at
100% utilization as soon as the user tries to browse the
network path. Going to try a few more things if I get any
further I will let you know.

Right AutoDesk said it's an XP problem our resellers said they haven't got a clue and the PC manufacturer reply was even less helpful. So the search goes on I am working on the principle it something to do with the network or network card set-up. I will contact you as soon as I have anything more concrete.

I solved our problem it was the files had digital signitures attached to them you need to run this application

C:\windows\system32\AcSignOpt.exe

Then unselect the tick box and restart your machine it worked a treat for me.
