Hi,
When I attempt to print to the printer Apollo P1200 the Ink LED
continues to flash and no printing occurs. If I turn off the printer
and turn it back on again the printer automatically prints the
document.

XP installed the driver automatically. Anyone know how to fix?

Tommy.

Hi Cari,
Sorry but this did not work. I have a Gateway 500 . The BIOS allows
for Output only, Bi-Directional, EPP, ECP. Defaults to ECP but I
tried EPP as you suggested but no joy. I also tried Bi-Directional
but nothing doing there either.

BTW, the printer will print something from the DOS prompt like
c:> echc >lpt1: "hello cari"

But from Notepad, Textpad and Winword I still get the flashing INK
LED. What is printed is garbled character. Might this be a Windows
XP driver problem?

There used to be an option in WIN98 that you could change the Spoll
Data Format. One option was RAW but I cannot remember to other
option. For XP you go the the printer Properties page, Advanced,
Print Processor you get the print processor (Winprint) and a list of
data types. I have tried them all to no avail.

The data types RAW, RAW(FF) and RAW(Auto) work fine in DOS, while the
others data types do not. Even the DOS command "edit" will print the
files that Notepad, Textpad and Winword will not.

I have tried different parallel cables that work on other printers so
no joy there.

Thanks again,
Tommy.

Hi Cari,
I tried as you suggested but to no avail. I also plugged the printer
into a Win2K Pro machine. The printer operated exactly in the same
manner on this machine asit did on the XP machine. They are two
different computers.

Reading bewteen the lines of the Apollo web site and deafining silence
of the response to the three emails I am begining to believe that this
printer is a Win9x printer only.

C'est la vie!

Thanks again,
Tommy.
