Hi. I have 2 computers, one has XP Home and the other has 98SE. I used to have a home network set up and for a while it worked really well. Then I think someone hacked in because I saw really weird things in My Network Places and then the window went blank. I managed to fix part of this problem, but now each PC sees only itself in My Network Places or Network Neighborhood. However, I typed "\\192.168.1.2" (the IP of 98SE machine) into Internet Explorer and it worked, I could see the shared folder and the printer. But I tried typing the IP of the XP machine into IE on the 98SE machine, and it said it could not be found. What's going on?

I made sure that the workgroup, subnet mask, and residential gateway are all the same. I can ping the 98SE machine from XP, but not vice versa.

Nevermind, I fixed it! All I had to do was turn off the firewall then turn it back on.
