XP and 2 computers

Should I have 2 operating systems to use 1 computer with an OEM XP Home
Edition (sure it's one licence) and an older computer in the same house .
I picked the older computer from the rubbish and it goes and I'm trying
to find out how and I don't even know what I will use it for yet , at least
pass the time constructively .
It has a 100Mhz processor but I'm sure I can get a cheap 200Mhz
processor , maybe a faster one again .
I think I could put Windows NT4.0 or Windows 2000 because they are cheap
, into the old computer and set up Lan maybe and maybe use the internet with
them both , I'm not sure .
I've been looking at the Windows website at Microsoft too .
 
The OEM Windows is licensed for only that specific pc. Any other pc you get, will need it's own (separate) Windows.
If you are talking about a multi-boot system, you still need a license for each O.S.
Are you sure about the processor speeds?
A 100 MHz or a 200 MHz processor are way too slow to even run Windows 2000.
 
Win 2000 works fine of 486s. Slow to boot and opening apps but then it's
fine.

hello Maurice , thanks for replying
I would like to use the old computer I got to bootup into the Bios for
something , can you give me any suggestions . I know I could upgrade to a
200Mhz processor and I could put up to 128mb's of memory into it and I could
possibly get a processor adapter for a larger processor , I will look into
that . I bought a very cheap unused Windows NT OS hoping I could use that in
it .
 
A 200 with 128 will run NT. There were some changes between the 100 MHz and
the 200 MHz machines, so make sure the 200 you plan to put in is compatible
with the socket and motherboard. These are some dead slow machines that most
people consider too slow to use for anything, but I guess that would work as
a print server or such. By today's standards ,it crawls.
 
I'm going to try the 100Mhx processor but I will get a 200mhz too .
interesting idea about a print server too thankyou

Hey, be versatile, put your favorite distro of *ix on it - they run just
fine on 486 CPU's with little or no memory so to speak (as I think the 1st
Pentium was a 133 wasn't it)? Just don't try to run the latest version of
Gnome, KDE or X-Windows on it, it'll need a little more oomph for that.

I had a P90, I think. There were 100's for sure.
