I've just got a new PC with XP and for some reason it keeps booting up with
explorer opening the System32 folder. It there a way just to have the system
startup with just the desktop ?

Rob.

Hi All,

The link provided by Chris points you to a VB script that does all the work
for you.
I'd like to also mention that there is a ton of helpful fixes, and tweaks on
the site!

Rob, I had the same problem but it was after I had
installed several new programs. The Dell support person
had me use System restore and the computer fixed the
problem. He said when you get that starting there is a
problem with a file in the registry. After I ran the
system restore and reinstalled a couple of programs it
works just fine and no more system 32.

Try the following procedure:

click the start button
select run
type: msconfig
click the OK button
select the startup tag/menu
locate startup item: /L:ENG
de-select it
click the OK button
reboot
click the optoin box
click the OK button
now you are done
