I forgot my Admin Password on Windows XP Home. I have
tried 3 different linux boot cd's to no avail. Each one
errors out before it can read the sam file. Does anybody
know another way to reset it? Thanks for you help.

Since you are using Home, have you tried booting to Safe Mode and using
the account named Administrator? That one, by default, has no password
(click and enter) but if that is the one that is lost, use John.

You could try using John the Ripper crack it - it's pretty reliable and
easy to use.

This is an issue you will need to discuss with your parents and your
older brother. Yes, there is a way to change yourself to administrator,
but then there is nothing preventing him from changing you back. So
this issue really belongs in a family discussion. In any case, it is
far more secure for a user - *any* user - to not use an account with
administrator privileges for everyday work anyway.
