Had more than 15 printer icons in my "Printer and Faxes"
window. Then had virus problem. Installed new virus
checker which had a conflict with Norton. Deleted Norton
and now boots/runs ok. Ran virus check on C: drive and
deleted about 35 files. None of files were system files.
Went to print something and error msg said "install
printer". Looked and sure enough - no printers are
installed. Tried to "Add a printer" from "Printers and
Faxes" window and get error message: "Operation could not
be completed".
Now what???

a) Start the Print Spooler... from the command prompt, type:

net start spooler

(and hit enter)

b) If that still produces the error, then use the System File Checker....
from the command prompt, type

sfc /scannow
(note the space between the c and the /)
