I recently did an overhaul of my PC and set it up as a cleanly installed
dual-boot with XP Pro SP2 and Vista Ultimate - both legitimately purchased of
course!
That all went fine, but now for compatibility reasons I've installed
Microsoft Virtual PC on my Vista installation, and put XP Pro SP2 on there
too. This has also worked fine, except that when I try to activate it it says
that I have already activated that key and cannot activate it again.
I assume that since this XP Pro is licensed to be installed on one PC only,
and I am only installing it on one physical PC (and clearly could not
possibly use both the 'real' XP and the 'virtual' one at the same time, since
the latter requires me to boot to my Vista partition rather than the XP one),
I am still within the terms of my licence. Is this correct? If so, do I just
need to call someone up and beg for an activation code or something?
Thanks for any help you can offer!
