Okay,

So the connection used to work but no longer. Desktop running 98 w/
WUB11 ver 2.6 and laptop running XP w/ WPC11 ver 3. The desktop
connects to the internet just fine through the cable modem. The
laptop can see files on the desktop and open them. The desktop
doesn't see the laptop (but don't really care). The laptop cannot
find the internet. I've tried uninstalling the laptop drivers and
utilities but nothing. I don't think it's the desktop because it
works just fine. Any suggestions?

Kevin

Check the IP configuration on the XP laptop (CMD prompt, ipconfig /all).
Make sure that (a) Default gateway is correct - typically it should be the
internal IP address of the gateway device.
In this case, I'm not sure if you are using a Wireless Router/AP or if you
are using the desktop as the ICS server.
(b) Make sure that the DNS setttings on the XP laptop point to a valid ISP
DNS server.
