I'm about to buy a 64 bit ready PC and was wondering if it were possible to
have a separate hardrive that would run XP 32-bit? The reason being is that
some of the programs/hardware that are not supported by XP 64-bit I still
need to have available for use. Also, even if this turns out to be a
possibility are there other ways to do this without an additional drive?

Yes, its possible. 32 bit Windows will run on the AMD processor, at least.

And you can repartition your hard disk to have multiple partitions. Without doing a complete reinstall, a 3rd party partitioning tool such as BootIt Next Generation www.bootitng.com, Partition Magic or another utility is your best bet. BootIt NG is not only a partitioning tool, but a full fledged boot manager as well. Much more functional and flexible than XP's built in boot manager.
