Will I be able to do print out labels on envelopes like I do on microsoft
word with my new windows xp professional 2002? I haven't downloaded it yet.

1) You cannot 'download' Windows XP Professional.
2) Windows XP Professional does not (no version of Windows ever has) contain
the MS Office suites or any similar suite. You can INSTALL Office (Word,
Excel, Powerpoint) if you desire.
 
Only if you install MS Word. No version of Windows ever came with Word, it
is up to you to install it.

I have no earthly why, but some folks seem to think that loading or
installing something from a CD drive is downloading. <shrug> I assumed
that was what they meant.

|Pedant mode on| - you don't "download" it - you install it. Downloading is
what happens when files are transferred from a remote computer to the local
computer. Files on a CD/DVD are not "remote".
