I'm new to Xnews, based on a recommendation from here. I have been
using the newsreader in Thunderbird. The thing that annoys me about
Xnews is that I keep getting this message "Confirm Message <insert
text here> not found Do you want to search Google. Naturaly it does
not realy say insert text here, there is some message about the post
that it can't find. I just want to turn the question off so I don't
have to keep clicking No.
Thanks.

Look in the manual for deja/google.

(If you don't want to be prompted to search Google for a missing
article set this parameter with no content: "DejaQuery=" (yes,
/nothing/ following the = sign))

Could you be a little more specific about what exactly happens, and when it
happens? Is it when you read, or when you write?

Its when I'm reading, mostly on the 24 hoursupport.helpdesk. Also
when I click on Help Manual I get an error message, manual.html not found.
"set this parameter with no content: "DejaQuery=" (yes,
/nothing/ following the = sign))" How please. I looked under Setup
Xnews but found no where to set a parameter.

found my own answer, no manual was because I had downloaded a beta
version. You are supposed to download the full version first, then the
beta. To remove the "Do you want to search Google message-find and
edit the Xnews.ini file. Apparently when the helpdesk administrator
deletes flames or other garbage posts a tag is left. Xnews will ask you
if you want to go to Google to read the useless trash. If you don't,
and clicking no is annoying, this is how you fix it.

It probably means that the message is no longer on your newsgroup's server.
What is the date of the post versus the retention time used by your
provider? Some limit the retention to 30 days.
