Xnews- expand all threads

Every time I load Xnews, I have to uncheck Expand All Threads. Then the
next time I load it, I have to uncheck it again.

How to keep the setting permanent?

As a little aside, every time I try to access an MS public NG I get a
message saying that the maximum number of connections has been exceeded.
Anyone know that means?
