XML? HTML? Sending/Receiving website data

I have data that is manually input to a website. The
website in turn returns approvals/denials based on this
data. Instead of allowing this manual step to halt the
otherwise smooth flow of the automated database, is there
a simple way to have this done automatically? Using Access
97, the records are flagged for submittal and displayed
for manual input to the website. Then the returned
information is input into the database and the process
continues on it's way. Any ideas?
