Since installing SP2 on either XP home or XP Pro a pop-up menu ask if I want
to align my printer cartridges during my inital print(after start-up). If I
click yes I get a .DLL error. and if I click no, then the pop-up appears
everytime I try to print. Xerox no longer supports the product and has no
driver updates. Any ideas of what to do?

Use the facilities of Start Printers and faxes to highlight the
printer and delete the drivers. Next, shut down the computer and detach
the printer from the computer. Next, try installing it as a Lexmark Z53.

I'm having the same trouble with my Xerox XK35c. I uninstalled/reinstalled
the driver to no avail, however someone else found (and it worked fo rme,
too) that copying the ssrosui.dll into the \windows\system folder at least
got rid of the error message. However, even if I choose Yes to go through the
cartridge alignment, the dialog box appears every time I try to print. How do
we make this dialog box go away? Is there a Lexmark driver I should install
for my printer as well?

thanks,
Luann

I'm having the same trouble with my Xerox XK35c. Fortunately, someone else
had suggested copying the DLL in question (ssrosui.dll) to the
\windows\system folder, and now when I choose Yes I can proceed to do the
cartdige alignment without error. However, the cartridge alignment dialog
comes up each and every time I choose to print, no matter how many times I do
the alignment. Any ideas for my particular printer?

thanks,
Luann

I am having the exact same problem and took your advice. It was different
and worth investigating, but ultimately unsuccessful. First of all, Lexmark
Z53 was not available on my system, only Z51 and Z52. I tried Z51 since I
checked some of the files that were being used in conjunction with my
original Xerox driver, and they seemed to have been identical to those used
for the Lexmark Z51. The second problem was that I landed in an endless
cycle of cartridge alignment printouts. When I finally emerged from the loop
and tried to print out a different document, only a blank page emerged. So I
am returning to the old Xerox driver. Although I will get the annoying
prompt to align cartridges, I can respond "no" and at least get some kind of
printout. I'll deal with a slight nuissance over an inability to print
anything out. But what a waste of my evening (no fault of yours, rather of
Microsoft and Xerox).

Thanks.

The driver for the Z53 is available on the Lexmark web site.
