I can get into the BIOS setup if I press del on startup, but I can't
see
anywhere I can change the parallel port configuration.
:
You'll have to check your motherboard manual as the instructions for
accessing the BIOS differ from motherboard to motherboard... it's a
keypress
on startup (before XP starts).... I've seen many variations from F1 to
F2
to
DEL and sometimes even F10.

Thanks,
How do I configure the machine BIOS?
Also, if I change the machine BIOS, maybe my Epson LQ500 printer
won't
work
(if you thought the Xerox was slow, you should see the Epson - 1
page
every
10 minutes!!!)
Thanks for your help.
:
Ah Cari. BIOS
So you got an old as the hills model and that FastPage4 probably
means
4
pages per minute. I love the really fast printers.
Anyway the device is most likely not compatible with EPP or ECP
parallel
configurations.
Configure the machine BIOS of the parallel port to BiDi or AT or
PS2.
Then
run through the add printer wizard again and select the HP Laserjet
5
L
(if
you deleted the previous attempt).

This printer dates from Windows 3.1. I really do think it's time
you
retired it and got something a little newer.
I can't find anything that might even think of working.

message
My Xerox Fastpage4 printer won't install on my Windows XP
system.
It
worked
fine on my old Windows 98 system. I have the drivers that came
with
it,
but
when I try to install them, I get a message saying they are not
compatible
with Windows XP.
There are plenty of drivers that come with Windows XP, and Xerox
said
that
HPLJ5L should work, but it doesn't -- just doesn't print.
Is there anyone out there who knows where I could get a driver
that
works.
Thanks,
