In windows XP is there a command from the dos prompt that
will copy one hard drive to another hard drive
XCOPY with the proper command line switches will do the job, or most
of it. However there can be problems with file name corruption under
some fairly common circumstances when you do a copy in this way. See
http://onlinehelp.bc.ca/tips#newdisk for an illustration of what can
happen to file names with XCOPY.
Some alternatives:
1. Many new hard drives come with a utility disk that includes a disk
cloning utility. Alternatively the hard drive manufacturer may have a
utility on their web site you can download for this.
2. Norton Ghost from Symantec.
3. Drive Copy (part of Partition Magic or separately) from Power
Quest
4. XXCOPY (free and reliable but slow) from
www.xxcopy.com
Good luck
