we have peer to peer. One machine is win98 with an
HPLaser Jet iii. New systems has winxp with no printer.
When printer/computer with win98 is off, excel 2000 (small
bus) will not allow print preview to work in WINXP (new)
system with excel 2000. However, when Win98
computer/printer are on, it works fine - no issues. The
message is "printer is not available. Please choose
another printer".

Is there anyway to over come this rather than having a
computer/printer on at all times for the other computer to
print preview.

Thank you. I'm perplexed by this and can't find anything
to resolve this issue.

Aside from my response to your other post for the same problem, it just
dawned on me that your problem could be the laserjet iii. That's an old
printer and WinXP may not support it with drivers that allow a preview.
Perhaps Word works better since it doesn't depend on the actual printer
settings as much as Excel. However, I noticed that you said: "When
printer/computer with win98 is off, excel 2000 (small bus) will not allow
print preview to work in WINXP (new) system with excel 2000". I'm afraid
that sentence just doesn't make any sense. Could you try that again?
