British Health - Linux

Yes, Xandros (used to be Corel) went to great lengths to make it look
as much like Windows as possible.

Apparently the jury is still out on whether people introduced to Linux
would rather it look like Windows or whether it's actually better if
it doesn't since then they don't make bad reflex moves which get them
in trouble by thinking it is like Windows.

Not altogether true. When you install Xandros, you can check a box to
make it look like Windows, Mac, or a few other OS screens.

Didn't know about the Mac options. Interesting.

I installed it to-day (trial run on 1 HD only) on a garden variety
Duron 800 256 ram Jetway MB and it took 27mins from CD Boot to being
on the net.

Xandros detected my ancient Epson printer, optical mouse, Sony CD-RW
and D-Link ADSL modem without a problem.

However, it would appear to need 256 RAM minimum as my mouse & the
apps are a bit slow. Others on the Forum are reporting similar.

Will install it on my main machine over the week-end.

Cheers,
