I have decided to test newsreaders again in the search of a replacement
for OE6. I know almost everyone here hates OE but it works nicely for
me since I don't care about binary newsgroups. With OE-Quotefix it
works very well and is configurable to my tastes.

Xananews 1.17.2.7 seems to be pretty close to OE6 but of course it has
some nicer features. I'm trying to learn how to work it, but compared
to OE it's a bit quirky. If there are any Xananews users here I would
appreciate some tips.

Is there a configuration file I can copy to another machine?
How do I set the SMTP host server on an installation where I ignored it
in the setup? The help file shows the older version options page and
it looks different than the new version.
OE has a nice feature where if you Watch a thread, it places all those
threads at the top of the Tree window. Xananews intersperses them
throughout the Tree window.

Thanks for the answers and any other tips. No, I don't like Dialog or
Xnews or Thunderbird.

Then why search for a replacement?

I'm a guy. I want to know what else is out there. Just like the TV, I
can't watch just one channel all night. I have to flip through all the
channels to see if something better is on.

If you like Outlook, you should try Fidolook, a s sort of add-no for outlook
which adds some features, including yEnc support.

I tried MesNews. Everything was in French and I didn't have the
patience to Mes around with it to figure it out.

In french : menu Options\Choix de la langue, and you choose English :-)

Xananews has a couple of newsgroup forums located at: forums.talkto.net
You should get plenty of assistance from there.

What does this mean? I am using IE6 which is one of the choices.

Never mind, I figured it out. Thank you for the link.
