X800xl or X850pro Which is better choice???

I can buy an X850pro for $250.00 (usd) or is an X800xl a better choice for
about the same money or just a little more? Both are AGP and I don't plan to
jump to PCIe any time soon. I don't see a lot of difference other than 12
vs. 16 pipelines.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!!!!!

Indeed, 12 vs 16 pipes, or 33% performance difference in
fillrate-constrained situations (high res w/ FSAA). Go for the X800XL.

I can tell you this I wouldnt waste the money to go agp anymore. PCIe
x16 provides so much more bandwith potential to allow card to run
better.

"Potential" being the key word. I bought an X800XL AGP because I'm not
buying a new mb just for a video card when the PCI-E and AGP versions
perform the same right now. When PCI-E a shows performance increase
over AGP then I will get new mb and PCI-E card. Actually, I plan to
get that Uli mb that has both PCI-E and AGP when I do my next upgrade
so I can go PCI-E later when it shows a performance increase over AGP
but still use my AGP card for now.

They'll have probably stopped making AGP cards by the time that happens.

x850pro is slightly faster, keeping at pace since it costs a little extra in
stores.
The 12 vs 16 pipes is relative, since the x850 is clocked higher.
Already i have read many stories about users not able to overclock their
x800xl much, ofcourse there are also users who does oc without problems.
Look at it like this : you can choose between 2 different engines who will
run about just as fast.
And neither of them will outrun the other sooner nor later.
On a side note,i can clock my x850pro at 570 core and 1220 memory.
So you wanna buy on a budget? get the x800xl , it's a good deal.
If the x850pro is cheaper then go for that, but don't be fooled by the
pipeline hype.

Wrong, look up the benchmarks.

Ahem, sorry,i was thinking you meant benchmarks on various websites but you
mean your list..
Hm,debating this is without an end.
So lets settle that they perform on par.
But i know that i'm right,although it's only a minor difference.
It's also pointless to use certain game results since there is an instance
where a radeon9800pro beats a x800pro in UT,demo:fallencity,assault.

I just noticed here in holland an asus ATI Radeon X800 XT Platinum agp card
can be bought for 249 euro.
Seems prices are comming down big time!
So i would advice to wait a little and get some real value for the same
money.

That looks like an awfully low price for an X800XT-PE. All such cards at
Newegg selling below $350 are refurbished...

I'm waiting for my ASUS X800XT PE TDV from OC.UK for £187 (inc VAT) - that's
about $344USD. All are brand new retail not OEM. It's a 'This week only'
deal. Offer ends tonight.

Sweet...
