Hi,
I've recently purchased a 24" LCD with a native res of 1920x1200, and I'm
looking to improve performance in games. I've got an AGP X800XL and I'm
wondering if improving the CPU will improve performance, or if I'm GPU
limited at this resolution?
My current system is an Athlon XP 3000+ running on a VIA KT400 chipset
motherboard (Abit KD7) with 1Gb DDR. I was thinking of changing the board
for a socket 939 AGP board (maybe the MSI K8N Neo 2), an Athlon 64, and
keeping the X800XL for a while. However, if this won't improve performance
at all, I'll wait for socket M2 and DDR2 and change the graphics card at the
same time.
The games I mostly play are City of Heroes (which I understand is mostly GPU
limited), Battlefield 2 and Dawn of War. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
JB
