"Hi,

Please can you tell me if the VGA Silencer will fit the new ATI X800 Pro
cards? If not, do you have plans for a new revision that will fit these
cards?"

+++++++

"Dear Sir,

The ATI Silencer 4 will fit this board and is available in 6-7 weeks.

Best Regards

Over at Rage3d's forums there was a post saying the x800 compatible VGAS
would be out in 4-6 wks I believe. Since the card is more or less identical
to a 9800 sizewise n such shouldnt be too long.

Sorry, did you read my post? Arctic Cooling have told me yesterday that the
Series 4 of the VGA Silencer - which is the version you will need to run on
an X800 - will be out in 6~7 weeks.

LOL nope apparently not all the way. My OE preview size was just right that
I only saw top half, assumed was just a question and thought was all of it,
hehe. Sorry bout that.

I saw this and missed the rest:

O.k.thanks, 6-7 weeks. Do you think it will fit the X800 XT?

Lou

I can only guess, but from what I have seen the XT and the Pro are
physically identical, so YES.

Look here:

I just visited that page. Interesting.. very interesting.. What intrigued me
the most was this second paragraph:
"HIS Excalibur X800 XT IceQ II features 16-pipeline architecture for top
rendering power, 256MB GDDR3 of DDR memory to accelerate latest 3D games and
new SMARTSHADERTHD technology supporting DirectX®.0 and the latest
OpenGL®-1.5 functionality to give developers the freedom to create more
complicated and realistic visual effects than ever before."

So that mean there is a NEW technology out called SMARTSHADER HD for DIRECTX
0 ? Cool..

I think my old voodoo 4mb pci supports that, yepp! It's sure DirectX 0
compliant :)

Do your homework and stop whining...

Martin.

That's a bit uncalled for, isn't it? I mean the HIS spec are a complete
load of shite. Absolutely meaningless crap. And therefore perfectly fair
game for any criticism.

WTF does "40% less heat" mean? So they have magically managed to get the
CPU to output less heat, have they? No. What a meaningless statement.
No-one can have any clue what they mean by that. 40% lower temps? Who
knows? Compared to what? In F, C or Kelvin? 40% less heat going into the
case because 40% get vented out of the case? Who knows.

EDIT: I meant GPU of course.

If it's the same thing as the Artic cooler I have on my AIW 9800pro
they mean "40% less heat - i.e. as detected on GPU - than with stock
cooler from ATI". That's all.

And the temp for sure are measured in C as this company is canadian
and only americans use F.

Low-k 13Micron GPU.... ati tested with Low-k 13micron GPU's in their
9600 series and alike...and now are ready to bring out the big guns
with that technology!

And yes, that is cooler.....

The Fahrenheit temperature scale is still widely used in the UK,
although I think we use the Centigrade scale officially, now.

(e-mail address removed) - take five to email me

EDIT : I meant that ATI is a canadian company thus they give out the
info in C - or so it is on my Arctic-Cooler box.
