X800 Can't Display Boot Screen Correctly

Just upgraded to an ATI Radeon x800 from an ATI 9800XT. When
I boot the splash page is out of alignment. The first char on
each line is clipped from the display. IE, the splash page has
shifted over 1 char to the left.

This only occurs on the initial boot screen; subsequent screens
display with proper alignment, and XP displays everything with
proper alignment.

The x800 is connected to a P4C800-E running a P4 3.40 Northwood.
I'm running the latest Bios from Asus.

Is there a tweak to get the boot display to line-up correctly,
and/or is this a red flag that something is wrong with the x800 ?

Thanks,

Z.--

press pause on your keyboard and reset the monitor correctly. Happened to me
aswell and I could correct it readjusting the monitor.

The characters aren´t missing, they are out of sight on the left margin of
the screen

Like Frank said. The boot screen is likely using a different
resolution/refresh rate than the subsequent screens, so the monitor needs to
be adjusted for this individual mode.

I just love the way people make Windows sound so great. Windows is what's
broken here, not your boot screen.

Your boot screen is fine... It's Windows that's out of alignment.

Go to your BIOS settings to keep the screen stable and then make adjustments
to the monitor until it is correct. THEN boot to Windows and adjust Windows
until the screen looks OK here.

Neither one is broken, really. The monitor stores a different set of
geometry settings for each resolution and refresh rate. Now, if CRT monitors
came with digital DVI inputs, we wouldn't need to worry about this.
