X1600XT Software Problems

I've set up a new system based around an ASUS P5WD2 Premium m/b and a
Sapphire X1600XT video card. I've had considerable problems getting
any of the video card software to work. All of the software installs
o.k. (?) and the driver registers well and can be used, but the
Catalyst Control Center Software does not function. I initially had MS
.Net Framework 1.1 installed; later installed the 2.0 version. When I
attempt to open the CCC, "CLI.EXE" appears in the tast manager as a
service running, but will not open. If I try to run the CC Setup
Wizard, I get an error suggesting that one of the reasons may be that
the Runtime process is unavailable. I've attempted restarting of the
Runtime, but to no avail. The log indicates that things are being
initialized properly, but the software does not run.

Am I missing a particular setting in MS "Services" or the Runtime
module itself that would enable this? I'm logged on as a user with
full admin priviledges. I've attempted this with both the original
Sapphire CD drivers and s/w, then with the current 6.3 set. Used the
ATI uninstall utility for all removals. I'm tapped out for answers.

On a similar note, just how important is having the CCC software?
Would all of the adjustments be availabe from within software that
relies upon the features of the card (ex. games, graphics software) or
is it important to be able to establish settings in the ATI software
itself?

lots of questions . . . few answers at my end.

So you've install mucj of the used driver but in your post it miss the
chipset driver witch come before the .net one.

I guess you've formated and trying to see if your new Vc work.

Have you installed all of the motherboard drivers? They need to be
installed after the OS, before anything else.

Most users in this group consider CCC to be excessively bloated, so it's
probably not worth the trouble trying to get it working.

The small 3rd-party utility ATi Tray Tools provide all of the functionality
of CCC, without requiring you to poison your system with .NET framework.
