Hi,
Before I go and shell out money for one, I was wondering what people's
opinions are on their driver status...

Thanks all.

The digital output is currently very flakey and some of the optional
enhancements are not fully implemented yet, but the analog output is excellent
in my experience.

Optional enhancements?

Depends on how you use it. Basic sound output to a 2.1 set of speakers it
works great. 5.1 digital output isn't so lucky.

The X-fi cards are not working all that well even with the recent release of
their new Vista Application CD, DD/DTS is no longer supported at driver level
for example, also, there are some serious volume and output issues that still
need addressing. The support at Crteative Labs is non-existent. Whole lot of
money for a card that performs miserably. You are much better off either
waiting until these issues are solved, or getting a motherboard that has good
onboard sound as you wont tell the difference. The cards are certainly not
worth the purchase for Vista.

vista application CD? where???

the just have a bunch of applications which still are far away from what
they deliver for xp...
vista has been rtm'd almost a year ago, jesus christ creative!!!!

Most of which can be attributed to MS removing the Hardware Abstraction
Layer (HAL) from vista (it was in XP)
They haven't just moved the goalposts they have chopped them up and set fire
to them !
OpenAL and ALchemy restore some functionality, but its far from perfect.
Drivers can only do so much when hardware support has been removed.
