I installed FrontPage 2003 update on FrontPage 2002. My computer is Dell
9400 Centrino Due, latest version.

The Problem.

A- Tables borders drawn in Design View are perfect, when published, all
borders appear as solid lines.

B- In Design View, boxes, circles and autoshapes do not accept any colouring
and remain in white, however, when published, all the colours appear as
intended.

I doubt that it is a problem associated with installation. I kept running
"Detect and Repair Program" in the Help menu and it has not fixed the problem.

I would appreciate any help.

How do you expect table borders to appear? A link to a page with the
problem, together with an explanation of what should be there will
help solve problems.

Boxes, circles and autoshapes should be avoided, unless you are
designing for an intranet. These (and all other objects from the
drawing toolbar, including WordArt) use VML graphics.
VML graphics will only render in Internet Explorer 5.5 and later
running on the Windows platform. Other browsers will render either
nothing at all, or very low quality .gifs instead. Also, unless you
*know* absolute positioning, you will find that your objects will
appear to move around the page as the browser window is resized.
Finally, any links you place in text-boxes will only work in Internet
Explorer.

Hi Ronx,

PROBLEMS:

A- In Design View, tables and cells' borders, no matter what style I choose,
when the table is reviewed, the borders always appear in solid style.

B- Objects on the Drawing Toolbar. While in Design View, I can insert,
resize and position these objects absolutely or otherwise. Colouring these
objects, for example, filling a circle in red, the colour will not appear at
all.
When the object is reviewed, however, all colours appear as intended.

I have used FP for a long time and I failed to explain this behavior.

I doubt that many of FP 2003 features have not been installed or updated
correctly.

In Authoring, under Tools, I allowed all features except SharePoint Sercices.

QUESTIONS:

1- If my doubt about defective installation is true, then, can I reinstall
or detect and repair FP 2003 using certain parameters or switches to
guaranttee a comprehensive installation?

2- Is there any other explanation, as I expect to face similar problems as I
go along?

3- When would we expect a new version of FP?

A - Provide a link to a page with this problem. Remember that Preview
in FrontPage is not a complete browser.

B- Since I do not design for an Intranet, I NEVER use the VML
graphics, and never will (except to demonstrate how bad VML is). I
prefer graphics that can be seen clearly in all browsers, rather than
restrict my audience to 85% of potential customers. Create your
graphics in a real graphics editor, such as Paint Shop Pro, or even
Paint.
