The company has a blog: www.fictionframes.com

If I type fictionframes.com into Mozilla address bar the site comes
up.
If I type fictionframes.com into IE address bar the site will not come
up.
If I type www.fictionframes into IE address bar the site will come up.

I deleted temps, cookies in IE and cannot get IE to launch:
fictionframes.com

Is there a method to change this function?

The users are in the habit of typing in a *.com without suppling the
http://www up front.

Thanks

This is a browser function.

If I type, 'fictionframes.com' into the Opera 9.27 address bar, I get:

| Error!
| Could not locate remote server
|
| You tried to access the address http://fictionframes.com/, which is
| currently unavailable. Please make sure that the Web address (URL) is
| correctly spelled and punctuated, then try reloading the page.

If I type, 'fictionframes.com' into the SeaMonkey 1.1.9 address bar, I get:

| Address Not Found
|
| fictionframes.com could not be found. Please check the name and try again.

If I type, 'fictionframes.com' into the MS Internet Explorer 7 address bar,
I get:

| The page cannot be displayed
| The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might
| be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser
| settings.

These are all rational, and proper responses. If I try 'nslookup' from a
command prompt, I get:

| *** Can't find server name for address 192.168.102.1: Non-existent domain
| *** Default servers are not available
| Server: UnKnown
| Address: 192.168.102.1
|
| Name: fictionframes.com

And Sam Spade tells me:

| 04/24/08 12:46:45 dns fictionframes.com
| No data of requested type
| (Host doesn't exist - try Dig for MX record)

Some browsers try to be helpful, often in an unhelpful way...

If I type, 'fictionframes.com' into the MS Internet Explorer 6 address bar,
I get redirected to the Google search page.

BTW, Mozilla Firefox can be configured to behave properly, and I have done
so. If I type, 'fictionframes.com' into the Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.14 address
bar, I get a pop up window with this message:

Alert

Firefox can't find the server at fictionframes.com.

Please do not ask MSFT to "fix" something which is not broken. If you want
users to go to your web page, just fix up an 'AAAA', or 'CNAME' DNS record
which points 'fictionframes.com' to the appropriate IP address. Do that and
any browser will gladly take your user to your web page.

P.S.: There is OpenDNS, and there are ISPs (Embarq, Charter, Cox, Road
Runner, among othhers) who provide "typo correction" redirection, who, if
your visitors are using standards-compliant browsers, will be taken farther
away from your site:

| Server: resolver1.opendns.com
| Address: 208.67.222.222
|
| Non-authoritative answer:
| Name: fictionframes.com.aosake.net
| Address: 208.67.219.132

You *might* try to contact each, and every one of those services, and pay
them a small fee to have them direct visitors to your site. But it would be
much simpler, and cheaper, to configure your own DNS servers to do that
automatically.
