Some of our users have been experiencing vast performance
drops with IE6. When this occurs, a check shows that the
temporary internet files folder is set to 0 bytes instead
of our standard 128MB. If we try to adjust the size, an
error message results to the effect that the size should
be set to a value between 1 & 0.
This fault seems to occur on various makes of PC and at
random. All machines are running XP Pro and IE6 (we've
tried with or without SP1 of IE6). We have built a
machine from scratch and the fault occurs regardless of
the number of patches applied. This fault will occur
while logged in as an administrator or regular user.
In some cases a machine will remain faultless for some
weeks then suffer a string of occurences of this sort. In
the cases that I have noted, a reboot seems to get things
back to normal.
