wupdate.exe not responding

Wupdate.exe runs when I log off but does not respond. This is causing problems also with WP Print jobs.
Question: Is there a setting somewhere that needs to be changed? Or will I have to get a new copy of this wupdate.exe program from MicroSoft? Any suggestions

Run a virus scan immediately - make sure your virus definitions are up to date.
