I have a home desktop running Win2k. I've got two local hard drives on it.
One holds work files so, recently, I deleted the "Everyone" permissions from
that hard drive so that my kids couldn't delete the files on it. Now I
can't access the drive, can't enable sharing, and can't create any new
share, even when logged in as administrator.
The diagnostic I get when I try to access the drive is: "F:\ is not
accessible. Access is denied." (Oddly, the window title for that
diagnostic changes, and represents folder names like "Start menu" or
"Documents and settings," whereas previously it was my user name.)
The diagnostic I get when I try to enable sharing (or to create permissions
on a previously existing/administrative share) is: "An error occurred while
trying to share F. Access is denied. The shared resource was not created
at this time."
What the you-know-what? Should it really be this hard? I'm a pretty
advanced user, but why I can't figure this simple thing out is beyond me.
Help!
