Recently performed a virus scan using the latest Spybot S&D and this Win32
agent keeps popping up as the folder "wsnpoem' which has the files
"audio.dll" and "video.dll" inside of this folder. Not sure if this necessary
for Windows to operate correctly. Can't delete this folder through Spybot or
any other method of deletion. PC seems to run fine, but why would the virus
scan results keep telling me that this folder needs to be deleted and then
can't do so?

Please help, thank you.

Hi Vic,
You really need to scan with Anti-Virus scanner more than an anti-spayawre
program like Spybot S&D.

If you don't have an Anti-virus grab yourself one of these free Avs like
Avast or AVG and install it to protect you .

Hi Nass,

Have tried my main anti-virus program McAfee and AVG and both programs don't
pick this up as a virus. So I'm wondering why Spybot would all of a sudden
list this as a possibly potential one.

You perormed an anti spyware scan with SpyBot S&D not an anti virus scan.

SpyBot S&D is not an anti virus application.

There is also no virus called "wsnpoem" as you pu it, that's the name of a folder not of a
"virus" or a particular piece of malware.

Now if SpyBot S&D declared .\wsnpoem\audio.dll and .\wsnpoem\video.dll as being
infected, what did SpyBot S&D indicate they were infected with ?

Whatever the case, please stop calling theses "viruses", they may be malware but they are
most likely non-viral malware.

Just because your PC operates properly does not mean that your aren't infected with malware
and there isn't malicious activity going on. Depending on what kind of malware these are,
there can be all kinds of detrimental consequences to their being used. The fact that they
were not removed maens that they could be actitively being used.

Have you tried scanning the PC in Safe Mode using SpyBot S&D ?

Additionally, please download, install and update the following software...

* Ad-aware SE v1.06
http://www.lavasoft.de/
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/
http://www.lavasoft.de/ms/index.htm

* SuperAntiSpyware
http://www.superantispyware.com/superantispywarefreevspro.html

After the software is updated, I suggest scanning the system in Safe Mode.

Well said, Dave. Spybot, to my knowledge, detects only spyware. Hence the
name Spybot, not Virusbot.

It is more than semantics.

To answer Vic's question as to why 1 anti-malware program, in this case
Spybot, would detect a file as malware but other security detection program
not detect it, because.
Because some programs are better than others.
Because there is sometimes a scanner will classify a file as a virus;
another scanner will classify a file as spyware. The antimalware industry
does not have uniform standards.

Hi Vic,
To answer your Question, Spybot can give or any Anti-Spyware or Anti-Virus
can give False positive result, but I will not rely on this.
Does spybot run in Tea Timer Mode?.
I don't know why you are running two Anti-Virus programs altogether on one
operating system, they will conflict and sometime can kill each other
running processes (not intentionally) and you will end up unprotected, so get
rid of one and keep the other .
Run another scan from an on-line vendor to make sure all clean and use the
Lavasoft to scan and get whichever spybot miss.
Since it is a video fill I will be concern, lately there is a lot of
infection through Media files especially if you have such a software
installed to download or share music on the net.
Try to clean up the Temp and run disk clean Up and run a scan with spybot
and see if it will pick it up.
HTH.
