WSAESOCKTNOSUPPORT (error 10044)

I am getting this error in xp pro after the onboard NIC died and I put
in another PCI NIC. I can ping any ip address and map to LAN shares,
but pinging a url or any network app fails and returns this error.

Please help, thanks.
