Wrong Version

In one of my classes, i'm responsible for creating a newspaper to send out to
the school. When my teacher emailed me the file to my home, i opened the file
only to discover that "publisher can not open files from a different
version." Does anyone have any helpful things i could do to figure out how to
use this?
 
Excel is not the best choice of program to make a newsletter
with. Publisher or Word would be better choices.
