Hello List,

We've just replaces 5 old Windows 98 PC's with Dell with
Windows Xp pre-installed on all of them. All the 5 PC's
have problem with the time syncronisation. They do not
belong to a domain and the time is always 30 mins more than
the actual time. Every time the I have to go to the Date &
Time and change the refresh the actual time with some time
server. But this change is not permenent, the next day the
time is again wrong. Where is the problem? In the system
clock or with the Windows or somewhere? How can find and
solve it?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance!

Hi, Shafeer,

Just to check if you are doing the following,

Be sure you are on the Internet,
Double click the time on the task bar,
Be sure your time zone is correct,
and click Automatically adjust for daylight saving,
Click Internet time,
Select - Time.Nist.Gov.
Click Update Now.

The time should recalibrate at least once a week automatically, if you leave
your computers on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
And should, every time you reboot.

A known problem with Dell. Contact Dell for fix.

Bob

Hi Jerry,

I have the right timeone and also the daylight saving
selected. I tried different time servers listed in the
"Internet Time" tab. But When I restart the computer, the
time is again 20 mins from the actual time. I checked the
bios and there as well the time is 20 mins more than the
actual time.

Is that something to do with DELL PC's or the BIOS clock
settings?

Regards,
Shafeer.

Hi again, Shafeer,

Bob Gibson has a good answer,
Contact Dell for a fix on the time problem.
Apparently there is a glitch in their program.
