I have a network of 14 Win2k/SP4 DC's at 13 sites all linked by VPN.
Recently, I have had to re-build some DC's, and when on site I was trying to
edit group policy on the newly built DC. When looking at the list of group
policy objects applied to an OU, the list is derived from the local DC. But
on the newly re-built DC, the list is being obtained from the remote DC -
and hence when I go to edit that GPO it's rather slow (editing logon scripts
is slower still).
The local DC is sharing the sysvol folder properly, and NTFRS is working
correctly. It's just that AD users and computers and AD sites and services
are looking to the remote DC when editing GPO's.
I suspected it may have had something to do with the way I built the DC and
promoted it, but searching for information along these lines hasn't yeilded
many results.
Is someone able to suggest what I should be looking for please? Thanks..
