Hi Group,

I'm using Outlook 2003 and have setup on a windows XP pro machine 4 user
accounts. If I leave messages in the outbox in one user log on and someone
else logs onto the PC and uses outlook 2003 to send their own emails, mine
also get sent but show as their email address as the sender and not mine,
which can be confusing to the recipient.

Is there a setting somewhere that I've missed or that I need to ammend for
each users account in Outlook 2003? I would be grateful if you could
describe what I should do to correct this.

Best Wishes,

Derek

Sounds like you have multiple users set to use the same .pst file or
Exchange mailbox. Unless that's intentional, each person should be using
their own.

Hi Sue,

Thanks for responding. We all share the same internet/email connection, with
a rule in each users outlook/windows user logon to place incoming mail to
the correct recipient s inbox. Every user has their own .pst file located in
the document\user\local settings folder with a windows XP security setting
allowing all accounts access to each users .pst file so that incoming mail
can be placed in the appropriate inbox without problems. This works fine
apart from mail that is cc'd :o((

I'm not sure I know what an Exchange mailbox is so I can check it's
settings. If this is some sort of hotmail account then no we don't use an
exchange mailbox. The account is a freeserve account with freeserve email
addresses. I'm sure it's just a setting or rule that needs to be applied
somewhere in outlook 2003 I just don't know where to look for this last
hurdle. There is a email accounts setting under tools in outlook 2003, this
has a more settings button which leads to a general tab offering you a
chance to put in more information. If I enter a reply email address in here
that corresponds with the current logged on user would that ammend the
incorrect sender details? Or is this field used for something else?

Thanks for any advice/help/instructions anyone can offer.

Best Wishes,

Derek

Yes, the From and Reply addresses need to be correctly set on the Outlook
account for the current user. An account with multiple aliases may not allow
different From information for each alias. Check with your mail provider.

Hi Sue,

I don't know what that field does but it didn't work. Emails still show the
wrong senders address in the from box. Any other suggestions/ideas anyone??
Basically I just need the right senders info in the sent from box on emails.
This did work okay without any additional work in outlook 2000, so I'm not
sure what has changed in 2003 but it seems that there is a buried setting
somewhere that I'm missing.

Thanks again for any help.

Derek

All the settings that Outlook uses for a POP/IMAP account are in the email
acount dialog. Changing the reply address does not change the from address,
of course, only the address that recipients see when they reply. Maybe the
mail server is setting its own From value?

Hi Sue,

Thanks for the help, it is appreciated. I guess I'll have to live with it as
it is for now. Only remedy is that everyone sends their mail immediately or
moves it to the draft folder I guess.

What is the recipient address for under tools then?

What recipient address are you referring to?

Sorry Sue I meant reply E-mail which is found under email accounts/more
information/general tab

Are you related to a Ron Mosher by any chance??

Best Wishes,

Derek

When a recipient replies to the message, they will see that reply address in
the To box on the reply message.

I am related to a Ron Mosher, yes, one of many Ron Moshers in the world.
